Union of Industrial and Employers’ Confederations of Europe (UNICE)

The UNICE position paper focuses on “future EU cooperation in the field of education and training”. Its main reference point is the European Council meeting at Lisbon, March 2000, rather than the Bologna-process. UNICE welcomes the idea of a knowledge-based society and stresses above all the importance of lifelong learning and the recognition of learning achievements and transparency of qualifications (ECTS). More European coordination in these fields and, more specifically, more coherence with the European employment strategy are needed.
