Explanation: 0 = no comment; 1 = rejection; 2 = strong reservations, but no rejection; 3 = approval with certain reservations, 4 = full approval
The EAIE is an international non-governmental professional association of individuals with a common interest in the international relations of education in Europe. It declares itself in all essential aspects strongly in support of the Declarations of the Sorbonne and Bologna but it also stresses the limitations of the declarations as instruments for change: They are only declarations of intent and have to be followed by a coordinated programme of action by the signatories and a concrete partnership with the universities. The EAIE stresses its support for the idea of a European "area" of higher education and its resistance to a European "system" of higher education. The process should not lead to uniformity or centralism and it should put special emphasis on the recognition of credits from "non-higher education contexts" and on bridges between different institutions and programmes.
